Donald Worcester Tibbetts , 91 , died Nov. 13 , 2015 at Togus VA Facility . He was born in Columbia Falls May 27, 1924 the son of the late Harry and Marie (Worcester) Tibbetts.
He was a graduate of Columbia Falls High School , and was a proud WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army . He worked in construction for many years. He had received the award for the “Oldest Citizen in Columbia “ where he had served as selectman , road commissioner ,and served on the volunteer fire department . He was a member of the V.F.W , D.A.V, was a member of Tuscan Masonic Lodge #106 in Addison , member of O.E.S. Wescogus Chapter #101 ,and a Noble of Anah Shrine , Bangor. He enjoyed hunting , fishing, and working in his yard, and tinkering on things . As a child he enjoyed spending time in Tibbetts Town with his very special Gram Worcester .He was very social and enjoyed being in his community, visiting the stores and talking with people . He greatly loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Barbara (Griffin) Tibbetts ; children – Bernard “Bun” Ward and wife Brenda of Columbia Falls , Patrick Ward and wife Cheryl of East Machias , Jane Shute and husband David of Calpe, Spain, Joseph Tibbetts and wife Sharon of Columbia , Dawnette Robbins and husband Charlie of Columbia Falls , Lori Therrien of Columbia Falls , and Kathleen “Kitty” Tibbetts and Fiance Dustin Frank of Columbia ; mother-in-law Jeanette Griffin four brothers-in-law , two sisters-in-law; many grandchildren , great-grandchildren , and great-great-grandchildren ; as well as several nieces , nephews, cousins, and friends to include special friends -Elmer Morris , Clifford Holman , and Herbert Fickett ; also his canine companion “Popeye”.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two grandsons – Scott Patrick Ward and Dustin Michael Therrien ; two brothers Malcolm and Robert ; and a sister Priscilla Worcester.
A celebration of his life will be held 1pm Sunday Nov. 29, 2015 at the VFW Post #11553 in Harrington. Ceremonies by Pastor Jan Rhenow , Pastor Bernie Hammond, and Officers of Tuscan Masonic Lodge .Burial with Military honors will be private.
