Samuel E. Seavey
Samuel Earle Seavey

Dennysville

Samuel Earle Seavey, 41, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family, on Saturday, May 20, 2017, following a courageous struggle with cancer. He was born on May 1, 1976 in Machias, the son of Allan Seavey and Jeanne (Cox) Seavey. Sammy was a graduate of Shead High School. He married his true love and bestfriend, Brenda Berry of East Machias on August 7, 1997. Over the next 20 years they resided in Dennysville and raised their two boys. Sammy was ambitious and accomplished. He possessed passion and unwavering commitment in all his endeavors. Sammy was a businessowner and a highly sought after master carpenter. Sammy also worked for 14 years at the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Cutler Maine. During those years his abilities and dedication did not go unnoticed. It was there that Sammy began his civil service career as a firefighter. He was also an EMT and was certified in tower rescue. Sammy then served as the Occupational Safety Manager. Later, Sammy was selected as Supervisor of Power Plant Operations, a position he truly loved. He was also very deeply involved in his community. Sammy was a long time member of the Dennysville Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, and he served as Fire Chief.

Sammy was predeceased by his cousin, Gordon "GR" Seavey; his uncle,Richard Seavey; his uncle, Dennis Cox; his grandparents, Sam and Norma Cox; his grandfather, Earle Seavey; and his brother, Steven Seavey.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda and their sons Austin and Sean of Dennysville; his father Allan and stepmother Shelley of Dennysville; his mother Jeanne of Edmunds; and his sister, Shelby Getchell and husband, Brian of Machias; special friends Larry Stauffer of Cutler; and Richard Saumur of Marion. He will be missed my many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The community in which he lived and loved will greatly miss his contagious smile, positive spirit, and selfless giving.

A special thank-you is extended to the doctors, nurses, and CNAs at Down East Community Hospital for their compassion and care of Sammy.

Memorial Services will be held at the Dennysville Congregational Church on Saturday, May 27 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sammy's name can be made to the Dennys River Volunteer Fire
Department. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com
