Obituary for Vernon L Scott

Vernon L. Scott

Columbia Falls

Vernon Lee Scott , 66 , passed away February 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 16, 1950 the son of Mary (Foster ) and Walter Scott Sr
His parents passed away when he was young and he went to live with his aunt and uncle , Angus and Julia Claudette, who he came to know as his mother and father. He attended Centerville Elementary School , where he was the only one in his class for 8 years . After graduating from Narraguagus HIgh School, he took building construction and drafting at EMVTI in Bangor . He then moved to Augusta, and worked for the Planning Division of the MDOT. During this time he married Gail Strout in 1970 , and they had their daughter Denise and son Jason. After six years in Augusta they moved back to Columbia Falls where they enjoyed their kids school years, and their growing up . He also enjoyed years at camp , and the Fourth of July celebrations with friends and family. He especially liked going to camp, Chomp-Chomp , Horse Race Pond , and the fishing and bird hunting trips to the Allagash, where they always had “Extra Good “ food .
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Gail , who he had many great times with family, camping , and travel . He was very proud of his daughter Denise and husband Steve , and his son Jason. He was particularly pleased with his granddaughter Meghan, who he has watched grow up to be a very kind thoughtful , happy , and loving young woman; our grandson Gage Bully who came to us at the age of twelve and asked us if he could call him Grampy , and is now a Soldier in the U.S. Army. He also grew up with six brothers and sisters and seven cousins, who were all individuals and he loved them all. He also leaves behind a good friend Glenn Smith , who has helped him through all this, and who always thought he was a better fisherman and cribbage player than Vernon, but was always debatable.
A special thank you to the Doctors and staff for all they have done, especially Community Health and Counseling Services for the Hospice care they provided. Also to all the family and friends for their support and prayers . Friends are invited to visit with the family for open casket viewing from 10 am until 11am , at which time casket will be closed through completion of services on Saturday February 25, 2017 at the Wreaths Across America Building,(former grammar school) 205 Main Street, Columbia Falls, ME.
