Ruth Myrtle (Beal) Faulkingham

Ruth Myrtle (Beal) Faulkingham, 95, of Beals Island, made her final journey peacefully and with family at her side, at Marshall Healthcare in Machias on April 7, 2016. She was born January, 27, 1921, the daughter of Jesse and Mercy Ann (Stanwood) Beal. She was a lifelong member of the Beals Wesleyan Church and the Alley’s Bay Mission. While raising her family, Ruth worked in sardine factories until she followed a dream and opened “Ruthie’s Bakery”. Many of the area children along with her own children and grandchildren loved Aunt Ruth’s cooking, especially the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that were always a treat at Halloween. Ruth became a Christian at 11 years old and spent her life serving her Saviour. She taught Sunday School, held Youth Services, played the piano and organ, organized countless Easter and Christmas Concerts, gave testimonies and preached sermons.

Ruth is survived by her son Earle and his wife Lenore, daughter-in- law Doris, grandchildren Benita Alley and her husband Raymond, Linda Eaton and her husband Gary, Loren Faulkingham and his wife Melanie, Trudy Alley and her husband Tim, Valerie Faulkingham and her significant other Scotty Bickford, Bobbie Jo Alley and her husband Troy, Jason Faulkingham and his wife Andrea, Cassie Mitson and her husband Caleb; great- grandchildren Misty Kelley and her husband Patrick, Martin Alley and his wife Rachel, Kristy and Keith Eaton, Daniel Faulkingham, Mallory and Owen Alley, Isaiah Faulkingham, Kali, Kaci and Karli Alley, Tyler, Hannah, Ethan and Nathan Faulkingham, Jacob and Landon Mitson; great- great-grandchildren Anson and Bradley Kelley, Emmett and Nora Alley, special friends Karen and Dale Thompson and Veronica Parks, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Grover Faulkingham, Sr., sons John Faulkingham and Grover Faulkingham, Jr., 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening, April 10, 5-7 at the Beals Wesleyan Church, 21 Elm Street, Beals Island. Funeral services will be held 1 pm April 11 th at the church.
