Howard “Howie” W. Jones , 71, passed away at a Bangor hospital March 9, 2013 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Boston, MA June 3, 1941 the son of the late Howard and Pauline(Maker) Jones.
Howie was very active in the Lubec community. He owned and operated Jones Store for over 25 years. He always greeted you with his contagious smile, and he was always up for a good joke. He also worked for many years as a Washington County Corrections Officer, was a Clam Warden for the town of Lubec and served on the Board of Selectmen. He was a member of Washington Lodge #37 A.F. & A.M. in Lubec, and a former member of the Lubec Lions Club. He loved being outdoors watching and feeding wildlife, tending to his blueberry fields, and 4-wheeling. He enjoyed going to the horse and dog tracks, and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. He especially loved the chance to have a family get together, and the time spent with his grandchildren attending their sporting events and school programs.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Pat (Ashby) Jones ; their 3 children- Richard Jones and wife Drenna and their children R.J. And Morgan of Milton,VT ; Jessica Harmon her husband Tim and their children Jayce, Teeya, Timothy, and Kyle of East Machias; and Jodi Look and husband Chris and their children Mason and Jenna of East Machias ; a brother Richard of Trescott, a sister Diane Black of Federal Way,WA ; a sister-in-law Jane Parker, and two brothers-in-law Bill Ashby and wife Pam, and Bracy Ashby; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held 2 pm Fri. March 15, 2013 at the Christian Temple Church Lubec with Pastor Gary Look officiating, to include Masonic Services and a reception immediately following.
