Condolence: My Dear Bernard,

"More Than My Words Can Say."

Finding the right words comes easy for some.
For me its always been hard to find the right ones.

For now please accept my heartfelt attempt.
To let you know just how very much you have meant.

In 1944, on a day called "D", you jumped from a plane to keep the world free.
Somehow, through the magic of time, you landed in the midst of a nightmare of mine.

I was broken and you were My Fixer.
I was lost you were My Finder.
I was alone and you were My Companion.
I was down and you were My Up.

You lifted me up onto your strong shoulders
And held me above My Valley of Despair.
You smiled and spoke in your calming voice
And brought light into My Darkness.

You brought courage to My Fear.
You brought strong to My Weak.
You brought heal to My Hurt.
You brought Life to My Dying.

I wondered if I would ever find the words to express my gratefulness to You.
Then I realized that I will look into Your Eyes again one day and I will see the reflection of Knowing that has always been there.

So, maybe my words are all right after all. You're always heard--whenever I've called.

Love, Jim

Condolence: I was saddened to read about the death of Mr. Cheney and I send my condolences to all the family. Although it has been many years since I saw him last, I remember him, and his wife, very well. When I attended the University of Maine at Machias, Mrs. Cheney was the principal at the campus school and Mr. Cheney knew my father in Calais as well as serving as our insurance adjuster on many occasions. Despite the many years that have passed, I remember him as being honest, forthright and always a gentleman. He was a pleasure to talk with and my family trusted his judgement whenever we had an insurance claim on our car or on the house. He was always fairminded and honorable and I always enjoyed seeing him. My best to everyone who is left to grieve for this good man and longtime son of Washington County. Condolence: The graveside service for my uncle Bernard was very moving and as much as he would have wanted. Bernard has given me many memories since I was just a few years old. He was a good man, in all ways, as well as an heroic soldier during WWll. I always admired Bernard for his humor and seriousness, and have tried to emulate his positive outlook on life.
My sincere condolences to his grandsons, Ben, Matt, and Peter. I am sure they will always keep good thoughts of Bernard throughout their lives.
