Obituary for Gwendolyn L. Grant

Gwendolyn "Gwen" L. Grant, 89, was called to her heavenly home December 21, 2023 at Changing Tides in Harrington, after a long illness.
She was born June 20, 1934, the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Amy (Beal) Leighton.
Gwen was one of the most warm hearted and selfless souls, always putting others first.
She was a graduate of Milbridge High School, class of 1952. She graduated from Westbrook Junior College, in Portland, with a business degree in 1954. She worked at Wyman‘s office upon graduation. She was a teller at Union Trust Bank and Bar Harbor Banking and Trust for many years. She, along with her husband, Russ, ran Dorman Gardens in the summer and the Wreath Shoppe in the fall. She also did seasonal work at Wyman‘s blueberry factory.
She loved family gatherings, road trips with her sisters, and singing at church.
She was a member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Harrington Baptist Church.
Gwen was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Russell M. Grant and brother Keith Leighton. She is survived by her children, Jeanine Allen (Steve), Gregory Grant of Harrington and Lisa (Ronnie) Carver of Jonesport. Grandchildren Nathan (Julie) Allen of Holden, ME, Erin (Clark) Mills of Jonesport, ME, Ian (Alyssa) Allen of Odessa, FL, and Terrell Carver of Jonesport, ME. Great grandchildren Seylah and Maddox Mills and Camden Allen. two sisters Beverly Beal of Milbridge and Greta Choqet of Bangor; very special niece, Cynthia Davis – Pinkham of Meadville, AZ, many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Special thanks to Changing Tides, where she resided for almost 4 years and Beacon Hospice for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held 11 am on December 27,2023 at the Harrington Baptist Church with refreshments to follow and internment at Forest Hills Cemetery. Arrangements made by McClure Family Funeral Services in Machias, ME.
