Obituary for Ronald "Ronnie" Carey Strout

Ronald "Ronnie" Carey Strout of Columbia, ME died unexpectedly in his home on February 19, 2021. He was born in Milbridge, to his parents, John and Alberta Strout on January 2, 1944. Ronnie's passions in life were racing fast cars, rebuilding engines, and spending time with family.
Ronnie met the love of his life, Karen and her daughter, Rhonda, in 1982, and they quickly became a family. Without hesitation, Ronnie took on the role of father to 2 year old Rhonda, and raising her was something that came naturally to him. They enjoyed summer trips to Old Orchard Beach as a family, and having family barbeques where he manned the grill. Ronnie and Karen married in 1996, and he spent his life making sure she had everything she could ever need.
Ronnie had many grandchildren, and he loved each and every one of them beyond measure. He especially enjoyed the special, unbreakable bond he had with his grandson, Tyler. They worked on cars together, loved to go fishing, and Ronnie took great pleasure in watching Tyler play sports.
Ronnie was a talented story teller, always eager to entertain family and friends with tales from his younger days. Those stories usually involved his 1967 Camaro, one of his most prized possessions, which he took great pride in restoring with the plan to pass on to his grandson Tyler. Racing the car at the airstrip in Deblois on Sundays, with his family cheering him on, was one of his greatest joys.
Living in a small, tightknit community, Ronnie was known for his generosity. Whether it was donating necessities to a grandchild's school, or assisting a neighbor in need, he was always there to help those around him. Above all else, Ronnie prioritized providing for his family. With his extensive knowledge of mechanics, he made sure that he helped the younger members of his family not just monetarily, but by sharing his skills so they could learn to work on their own vehicles.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Karen (Golding) Strout; daughter Rhonda Schoppee and husband Eric Schoppee of Cherryfield, ME; son Ronald R. Strout of Biddeford, ME; daughter Celina Davis of Florida; son Carey Strout of Connecticut; son Kevin Strout and wife Melinda Strout of Saco, ME; daughter Colleen Fox and husband Bill Fox of Florida; brother "Bruce" Joe Strout and wife Stephanie Strout of Harrington, ME; sister Louis Farnsworth and husband John Farnsworth; of Addison, ME; sister Anita Seavey and husband Hollis Seavey of Columbia, ME; brother Wayne Strout of Biddeford,ME; brother Alton Strout and wife Lillian Strout of Milbridge, ME; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
