James “Jimmy” Merton Look Jr, 72, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife and family by his side after a courageous battle with heart disease and cancer on December 29, 2020. Jimmy was born in Machias on September 9, 1948, the son of the late Isabelle (Holmes) & James Look Sr.
Jimmy grew up in Jonesboro and attended Machias Memorial High School. Jimmy was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in Vietnam. He had the utmost love for his country and was a true patriot until the end. Following his service Jimmy worked as a truck driver for H O Bouchard Inc and later Bluebird Ranch. A lover of music, in his earlier years Jimmy was in two bands, “The Trolls” and his father’s band, “Jimmy Look & The Country Gentlemen”.
In 2010 he met and married the love of his life, Hubene “Beanie” Sprague, or as he affectionately called her, “Sweet Thing”. The two first settled in Whiting on Orange Lake before purchasing a home in Florida and finally, Wesley, Maine. Jimmy & Beanie spent most winters in Leesburg, Fl., where they made lifelong friendships. Most summers were spent in Trenton at Timberland Acres Campground where Jimmy loved planting his swiss chard every year, driving his golf cart & playing cornhole. Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, gardening, riding his side by side and tractor and watching old western movies. He especially loved spending time with his wife and adored having his children and grandchildren around. Jimmy was the life of every party, he loved just sitting around the table telling stories, jokes, singing and listening to music, especially old country. In addition to his parents Jimmy was predeceased in life by his son, Christopher Look. He is survived by his loving wife Hubene “Beanie” Look; his brother and best friend, David Look and his wife Marcy ; Aunt Betty & Uncle Norman Reynolds; Uncle Raymond Holmes; The mother of his son, Ramona McCrider & her husband Dean McCrider of Anderson, S.C.; His stepchildren whom he loved like his own & they loved him- Ava Pinkham & Husband Tim of Steuben, Taunya Sprague Albert & partner Nick of Wesley, T.J. & wife Penny of Lubec, Joshua & partner Kayleigh of Wesley. Grandchildren; Madisyn, Tommy, Timmy, Michael, Dylan, Christopher, Alexandra, Sean, Noah, Isaiah, Chance & Joshlyn. Great Grandchildren; Ayden, Myah, Peyton, Nevaeh, Felicity & Harper; Sister in-law- Elzada Moores; Niece- Trudy Conley; Special friends- Gary Proper, Glenroy Wood Sr., Alan & Brenda Saunders, Mike Brothers, Neree Simoneau, Dale Wood and many more. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the hospice staff, especially Shelby Richardson Leighton for her excellent care, love and respect. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. On Thurday May 27, 2021 at the Acadia National Cemetery, Jonesboro. In lieu of flowers donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 65, 239 County Road, Lubec, Me 04652.
