Maxwell E. Peabody
Maxwell E. Peabody, 85, died at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor December 10, 2020. He was born in February 5, 1935 in Jonesport, ME , the grandson of the late Capt. John F. Peabody and Lucy M. Peabody, son of the late Hilda A. Clark.
He served in the US Coast Guard for 6 years. He worked for 32 years as a pipe fitter at Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket. Following his retirement in 1995, he moved to Addison. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved deer hunting, duck hunting, and fishing. He especially enjoyed his duck hunting trips with his son and grandsons, and September trips to Nesowadnehunk fly fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Betty A. (Norton) Peabody of Addison; daughter Danette McGowan and husband Gary of Bangor; daughter Teresa White and David MacFarland of Herman; son Carlton Peabody and wife Denise of Orono; brother Guy Peabody and wife Jennie of Ellsworth; Grandchildren: Lindsay Beaulieu and husband Peter, Jason McGowan and wife Meredith, Ryan McGowan and wife Felicia, Dylan Small, Kate Small, Caitlin Gunn and husband Josh, and Derek Peabody; Great Grandchildren: Rosalie, Josh, Judah, Charlie, Sadie, Claire, Oliviah, Wesley, and Dagen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services to be held in the Norton Family Cemetery, Addison will be announced in the spring by McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias. Condolences and memories may be shared at
