Emma M. Burke ,93 died May 17, 2020 at a Machias Nursing facility. She was born May 12, 1927 in Chaicago, IL to the late George and Celia Schantz . She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Donald Burke. Together, they raised 5 children. Tim Burke, Sharon (Ray) Bock, Mary (Michael) Kelly, Sue (Rick) Haff and Nancy Settle. They have 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
They settled in Machias Maine in 1982 where she made many dear and wonderful friends. Emma was a homemaker in every sense of the word. She was an exceptional cook, excellent seamstress and talented ceramic artist. Her grandchildren will always remember the summers they spent at Granma’s house and winters in Florida.
Emma spent the last few years of her life at the Maine Veterans Home in Machias. Her family is forever grateful for the excellent care she received while there. She spent the last days of her life at Marshall Health Care. The care and compassion she received there made a difficult time bearable.
