Brian Linwood Smith , 70, died April 1, 2020 at a Machias hospital. He was born April 16, 1949 in Machias the son of the late Lily (Redimarker) and Irving Smith Sr.
He was a hard worker, and all around handyman always tinkering on things. Over the years he worked for Gay Brothers, and Cherryfield Foods , as well as for Whited Ford and the Cherryfield Elementary School. He especially loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He loved to take things apart and put them together. When he needed a part, he’d say “I think I have one of those” and usually he did. He loved to play jokes on his family and friends (ex. The battery joke). He could also take a joke. He loved to help anyone in need and was loved by family and friends alike.
He is survived by his wife Belinda Smith of Jonesboro; four children - Philip Hanscom and wife Cherish of Milbridge, Herb Smith and wife Susan of Hancock , Krista Foss of Jonesboro and Darlene Megno and husband Kris of Machias; 8 grandchildren - Gabriel, Hayden, Kaylee, Mason, Jackson, Hanna, Emma, and Lia; siblings Burton Smith and wife Lenita of Jonesboro, Terry Smith of Jonesboro, Juanita Arey and husband Joe of Warren, Duane and wife Leslie of Lincolnville, and Ron Schencks and wife Elaine of Warner Robbins, GA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will always be missed by the "Breakfast Club" at Ab's as he looked forward to these monthly meetings.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife and mother to his sons-Lena (Hanscom) by brothers-Thomas and Irving Jr, and a sister Ernestine Lund.
