William A. Corey , 82, passed peacefully at home on Sunday March 29, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 13,1938 in Lubec, ME the son of the late William A and Nellie M (Crane) Corey. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Louise; and his siblings- Faye , Carlton, Ruth, Horace, Allen, and Alice.
Willie married his high school sweetheart, Louise McFadden and together they raised three daughters: Jolene and husband Michael Doran, Shelly and husband Steven Tinker, and Wanda Corey.
He loved his grandchildren - Serena, Justin, Nicholas, Riley and Sadie, and great grandchildren – Hannah, Kathryn, Lily, and Corey. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
After attending Lubec High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as an E4 specialist with the 97th Signal Battalion in Boblingen, Germany. After his service Willie and Louise moved to Meriden, Conn where he repaired heavy equipment for BARR Construction. Wanting to raise their girls in Lubec, Willie and Louise packed a U-Haul and returned home in 1967. Willie didn't mind getting his hands dirty and he worked with his brothers for a number of years before starting his own auto repair business, Corey & Corey INC, which he operated until his death. He enjoyed golfing , hunting, deep sea fishing, playing cards, working with his Kubota, and spending time with his family.
Willie was very active in his community, having served on the Lubec Board of Selectmen , Lubec Fire Dept. , and the revolving loan fund. He was a member of Anah Shrine, Scottish Rites, and a 50 year member of the Lubec Lions Club, Washington Masonic Lodge #37, and Stuart Green Post #65 American Legion.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family asks that those who wish to remember Willie with a donation to please consider the Lubec Lions Club, PO Box 42, or Washington Lodge #37, 15 Main St. Lubec 04652.
