Joyce Mae Bradley , 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, March 11, 2020 at a Machias hospital surrounded by her family. She was born February 1, 1938 in Lubec, the daughter of the late Wesley and Beatrice (McClellan) Davis.
After graduating from Lubec High School, she began her work life in the office of Trident Packing Company, after which she worked packing sardines for the Haskins Packing Co., and later for the Peacock Canning Company. Her family was the pride and joy of her life, and while she always said how lucky she was to have children; the truth is, we are so lucky to have had such a wonderful and caring mother, who , with our father, was always there to help us weather whatever storm life could conjure up for us. While she was not a traveler by nature, she and Dad did have a great time visiting Niagra Falls, and flying to Vacaville Ca. for a visit with her niece Elaine and her family, as well as twice driving to take in the sights and shows of Branson and Nashville.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Kenneth; two sons- Dana Bradley of Lubec, and Ricky Bradley and his wife Julie of Trescott ; two daughters- Sheila Bradley and her companion Bob Gero of Orrington, and Tammy Ramsdell and her husband Philip of Calais; two sisters -Gladys Leighton of Randolph and Kay Murphy of Trescott; grandchildren – Jessica Stevens and her husband Mark of East Machias, Brad Ramsdell and his wife Katie of Holden, Dylan Ramsdell and his wife Laura of Calais, and Renee Gero and her boyfriend Dylan Dawson of Orrington; great-grandchildren Jase Stevens of East Machias, and Jackson Ramsdell of Holden ; a sister-in-law Shirley Davis of Topsham, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her special friends Mary Jones, and Veronica and Wayne Wright.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two brothers James and Lee Davis; a sister Dorothy Wilcox; brothers-in-law Richard Leighton, Everett Wilcox, and Wayne Murphy ; a sister-in-law Elna Santini; and a great-grandchild Colton Stevens.
The family would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of Down East Community Hospital for the care and consideration they gave, not just to our mother, but to us during this tremendously difficult time.
Graveside services will be held 11 am Saturday March 14, 2020 at the Greenfield Cemetery in Lubec, followed by light refereshments at the Christian Temple Church Mary S. Pike Hall.
