Barbara M. Morrison, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, March 10, 2020. She was born on April 5, 1935, the second daughter of Arthur and Eunice (Garnett) Dennison.
Barbara was a homemaker who excelled at cooking meals for friends and family, sewing, quilt making, and getting things done. She was a dedicated long-term care giver not only to her husband, Colon, but to both her parents and her sister, June, as well. Barbara was an active member of Machias Valley Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and served on the Social Committee. She also volunteered many hours in the kitchen of Machias Valley Christian School.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters: Lavada Kinney and husband, Timothy, Sr. of Montoursville, PA; and Judy Lingley and husband, Harry of Machias; six grandchildren: Tanya Grant and husband, Jack of Zachary, LA; Naomi Frank and husband, Jeremy of Raleigh, NC; Rachel Hyden of Wake Forest, NC; Timothy Kinney, Jr. of Lexington, SC; Rebecca Lingley and husband, Kyle Sponholtz of Nebraska City, NE; and Sarah Lingley and partner, Grant Williams of Richland, WA; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Colon R. Morrison; a brother, Arthur Dennison, Jr.; and a sister, June Davis.
The family is thankful for the thoughtfulness of all who made visits and phone calls; sent meals, cards, and flowers; and provided care during Barbara’s illness. Special thanks to the members of Machias Valley Baptist Church and to Community Health and Counseling Hospice Services for their excellent care during Barbara’s final weeks.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Machias Valley Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2020. Burial will be at a later date in the Dennysville cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to Machias Valley Baptist Church, 8 Broadway, Machias, ME. 04654 or to Machias Valley Christian School, 118 Court Street, Machias, ME 04654.
