Raymond Lee Huckins
Raymond Lee Huckins passed away peacefully on March 9, 2020 surrounded by family following a brief battle with cancer.
Raymond was born December 5, 1946 in Lubec, Me to the late Geneva and Carrol Huckins. He grew up between Lubec, Me and Wingdale, NY.
At an early age Raymond enlisted with the Marines. His military experience left him with several accommodations including the purple heart and silver star.
Following his discharge from the military, Raymond became a commercial fisherman where he spent the rest of his life doing what he loved, enjoying the sea. Raymond spent his free time hunting and fishing which he was truly passionate about. He spent hours telling fishing tales to all who would listen.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Vanita Lyons-Huckins with whom he shared over 40 years; two sons, Aaron Lyons of Lubec, ME, and Joey (Dawn)Lyons of Lubec, ME (grandson, Devlin Mahar) daughter, Trisha (David) McCurdy of Lubec, ME (great grandson, Tegan Rodgers), son, Shane (Kelly) La Fountain (and their children) of Granby, Quebec and daughter, Teri Noe (her children and grandchildren) of Harkness, NY. Brothers, Randy (Lori) Huckins and Barry (Shelia) Huckins, sisters, Colleen Dennison and Rowena Tinker. A special cousin who he considered a brother, Steve (Fern) Andrews. Several nieces and nephews however he had special relationships with nephews, Jay Dinsmore, Scott Huckins, Doran Huckins, Danny Smith and niece, Morgan Andrews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Glen Huckins ;two sisters Linda Wentworth and Virginia Huckins; two granddaughters, Deidre Cline, and Celeste Lyons, and a step-brother Ronnie Sullivan.
The family would like to thank Barbara Rice for caring for Raymond in such a compassionate way during his final days. Her kindness throughout this difficult time will never be forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be held 1:00 pm on Tuesday March 17, 2020 at the American Legion, Lubec, ME
