James "Jimmy" Irving McFadden Sr, 77,died peacefully December 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 5, 1942 in Trescott, ME the son of the late Halbert and Lorna (Small) McFadden. Following high school he served in the U.S. Air Force. He then began a career as a telephone communications technician working for Southern New England Telephone, and AT&T, then owning his own business Jim's Telephone Service, and was the founder of McFadden's Variety. Not being able to sit idle he could most recently be found cooking at "Down East Dogs", and enjoyed working on his woodpile . He was a member of the Christian Church in Lubec ,Stuart-Green Post #65 American Legion in Lubec, a 50 year member of the Lubec Lions Club, one of the founding members of the Lubec Ambulance, member of the Lubec Fire Department,and was on the Lubec School Board for 7 years. He, along with his wife Eileen, loved the opportunity to hitch up their 5th wheel and spend 25 winters in Silver Springs , Fl and summers at Timberland Acres in Trenton,ME, where they made many many friends. He was known as the "BBQ Master" and was either cooking, or fixing something for someone in the campground.
Always with a twinkle in his eye, he will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, and a great mentor to all who knew him.His dedication to his community, and commitment to his family has left a legacy to those he leaves behind. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Eileen (Farmer) 2 sons- James Jr and his wife Andrea of Trescott and Michael and his wife Leanne of Campobello ; a daughter Laura Tinker and her husband Boland of Campobello ; His grandchildren- "Ampa" to Justin, "Bampy" to Janelle, Jessie, and Joshua, "PA" to Briana,Tatum, and "Jimmy PA" to Gillian, Jordan, and Rae; great-grandchildren- Anna & Ella , Cason and Trent ,Baylor , Courtney, Teagan, and 2 more on the way ; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by 3 brothers- Wayne , Derwin, and Halbert Jr "Bion", and a sister Louise Corey.
The family would like to express a special thanks to his caregivers Jolene Shults, and the staff at Cancer Care of Maine, Down East Community Hospital and Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held 2 pm Friday December 27, 2019 at the Christian Temple Church with Pastors David Glidden, and James Dufour officiating. Reception will follow in the Mary S. Pike Hall.
