Joan Evelyn Guerra, 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, December 13, 2019 at D.E.C.H. surrounded by those who loved her and a compassionate hospital staff. She was born in Jonesport on November 17, 1941, the oldest daughter of Edith and William Prescott Sr.
She is survived by a sister Stacey Spencer and husband Tom Spencer of Machiasport; three brothers- William Prescott Jr and wife Sandra, and Monnie Prescott and wife Amy all of Machiasport, Harold Prescott Sr and wife Barbara of Whiting.In addition to her parents, and a sister Sheila Ann Sprowl, she was predeceased by her husband Viviano “Johnny” Guerra. Together they raised two sons from a previous marriage and adopted by John in 1977, Elson Guerra and wife Penny, Prescott Guerra and wife Andrea all of Machias; 14 grandchildren ; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, friends, and a very special furry companion “Baby”.
Joan's faith and trust in the Lord helped her to overcome many obstacles in life. She loved deeply and enjoyed helping others, going to church, reading her bible and spending time with family.
A celebration of life will be held 10 am Saturday December 28, 2019 at the Jonesport Pentecostal Church, 10 Lamson Road, Jonesport, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to : Arise Addiction Recovery, attn: Paul Trovarello, 11 Lincoln Street,Machias, ME 04654
