From the age of 5, I loved to bring Velora flowers. Granted most of the time they came from her garden but she didn’t seem to mind. And if she did, she never told me. I visited her a couple weeks ago and my granddaughter picked a few flowers for her and brought them over. She later sent me a message saying how much they brightened her day and she wasn’t surprised we had another little flower girl in the family. It’s the simple things like that which made her heart happy. I have many fond memories of Velora. She made me and my sisters hooded scarves for Christmas for years and I have yet to find one as nice. I have some scary memories too..like when “the boys” didn’t go inside when she would call the first time. She would holler out to them “Oscar! Harvey! Raymond! You get your {blanks} inside right now!” You did not want to hear that voice! I think all of Halls Hill would tremble. She was a wonderful neighbor and she will certainly be missed by my Dad (John Trapp) and our entire family. Our deepest condolences to everyone who’s heart is hurting and for all the lives she touched.
