Robert E. Flaherty

Robert E Flaherty went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2018. He was born December 3, 1924 in Centerville,ME to Earl Flaherty Sr. and Ruth Flaherty (Bagley). He served in the US Army during World War II on anti-aircraft artillery where his gunnery crew was sited for bravery by George S Patton. Upon discharge from the service he married Norma Foss on October 9th 1948. He worked at various jobs until hiring on with St. Regis “Champion International” for whom he worked many years until his retirement in 1987. Robert was a longtime member of Machias Valley Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon's board, Trustee's board and as a Sunday School Teacher. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, horses and his dog Keeva. He was predeceased by his wife Norma, parents, brothers Elwood, Kenneth, Roger, Reginald and his wife Margaret, Infant sister Eleanor, Nephew Patrick and sister-in-law Muriel Foss Flaherty. He is survived by his daughter Karen, sister Mary, brother Earl Jr. and several nephews and nieces, and a special niece Kathy. A graveside service will be 11 am Saturday Sept.1, 2018 at Getchell Cemetery in Marshfield . Condolences and memories may be shared at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com
