Obituary for Betty Lou Garnett

Betty Lou Garnett, 79, went home peacefully to be with her savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving family on June 28, 2018.
Betty was a hard-working woman in her younger years, she held many jobs while raising her 4 children. Betty worked as a CNA, book keeper, a waitress, beautician, wreath maker, clam digger and spent 24 years working side by side with her mother, Eva, at the Ponderosa. Betty attended Beal College and Mansfield Beauty Academy.
Betty loved family more than anything, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The second love of her life was Papa Mike Arey. The third love in life was singing karaoke at Pete and Larry’s and the Gong Show.
She was predeceased by her father, John Garnett; her mother, Eva Garnett; her brother, John Garnett Jr; her beloved husband, Papa Mike Arey; an infant brother, Rex Garnett.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda and husband Raymond Dunbar and their children, Brittany and Justin; a son, Lester (Bub) and wife Cindy Vandegrift and their children, Katy, Kristen and Nathan; a son, William Jr. (Bill) and wife Kathy Vandegrift and their children, Lisa, Seth and Sydney; a son, Sidney and wife Marie Vandegrift and their children, Joshua and Eva; great grandchildren, ZuZu, Felix, Leif, Jason and Reaghan; nephews, Leonard, Jack and Clifford; a special cousin, Reginald (Bud) Means.

Visiting hours will be held July 2, 2018 at the home of Sidney and Marie at 134 Smithville Rd in Steuben. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3rd 2018 at 4:00 pm at the Steuben Union Church.
A celebration of life in her honor will be held Labor Day weekend at her request.
