Richard Alfred Farnsworth Sr. , 85, passed away Dec. 3, 2016 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Jonesport March 4, 1931 the son of the late Elmer and Helen (Chesterton) Farnsworth. He was a 1950 graduate of Jonesport High School. He joined the Air force on November 28, 1950 and proudly serves his country for 20 years. He was a life member of the Jonesport Congregational Church, and a life member of John Williams VFW Post # 11553. He was a very active and dedicated member of Jonesport Masonic Lodge #188 , Past Worthy Patron of O.E.S. Rumery Chapter #46 in Jonesport for 18 consecutive years, a life member joining Anah Shrine in 1964, member of the mini car unit, member and Past President in 1993 of the Washington County Shrine Club , Valley of Bangor Scottish Rites and Valley of Portland .
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his twin brother Robert , and a grandson Richard Lloyd Farnsworth.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 61 years Judy (Bubar) who he married on June 26, 1955 ; a son Richard Jr. and wife Jolene of Columbia Falls ; a daughter Melinda Soule and husband Michael of Sullivan ; 4 grandchildren – Jason Soule and wife Jennifer of Sullivan , Kate Farnsworth Corbin and wife Brittany of NH , Matthew Soule and wife Ashley Inda of Bath , and Richard Farnsworth III of Augusta ; 5 great- grandchildren – Skylar and Sage Soule, Yvette and Bailey Corbin , and Annabelle Judith Soule ; 2 brothers – Karle and wife Donna of Bethany, OK , and John and wife Velma of Oakridge, TN ; a sister Laureta Johnson and partner John Pelletier of Jonesport brothers and sisters -in law – Beverly Bagley of Cherryfield , Forrest Bubar Jr.and wife Linda of Addison , Sheila Williams of Columbia Falls , Leta and Richard Hayward of Jonesport , and Darlene Bubar of Cherryfield ; many special nieces, nephews , and special cousin “Buddy”.
Memorial services will be held 2 pm Sunday January 8, 2017 at the John Williams VFW Post # 11553 in Harrington.
