Obituary for Christopher P. Guida

Christopher Peter Guida, 66 of Edmunds Township, passed away, as he wished, at home on Wednesday, January 20. He was born in Lakehurst, NJ on September 12, 1949, the third child of James and Constance Guida.
Chris graduated from Mount Hermon High School, Massachusetts in 1967. He then went on to Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio where he finished after completing, what he proudly called, “the eleven year plan”. Chris spent many years traveling the world on merchant ships making friends everywhere he went. He retired in 2001 and was delighted to spend day after day never going farther than the park with his beloved Molly dog and flock of sheep.
Christopher leaves his wife of 28 years, Ann Luginbuhl and his two children Sophia and William of whom he loved to talk about and was immensely proud. In addition, he leaves a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Ammons of East Middlebury, Vermont, two brothers with whom he spent countless hours discussing politics, Kent and his wife Christine Donner of Houston, Texas, Peter Guida of Brooklyn, NY, and a sister Susan Looney and her husband Eddie of Tallahassee, Florida, and his nephew Nicholas Looney of Florida.
He will be sorely missed by so many, including his in-laws William and Viola Luginbuhl of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania who he loved to bait into political arguments. In addition, he leaves sister-in law Lynn Luginbuhl (and her husband Morris Earle and their three sons), brother-in-laws William (and his wife Erica Turner and their two daughters), Tod (and his wife Sarah and their two sons) and Rob Luginbuhl (and his daughter). So many musical friends will miss his relentless enthusiasm for chamber music, but none more keenly than his beloved “girlfriends”, the Wallpaper Quartet: Sarah Phillips, Jane Hinson and most particularly Helen Swallow.
Chris was very clear about not wanting a funeral. He will be cremated and at a later date his many friends and family members will gather for one last, grand spaghetti salon to eat too much and play music until long after Ann’s bedtime.
Chris loved seeing young people discover the joys of music, donations in his memory can be to the Eastport Schools Music Program, c/o Helen Kilby, 100 High Street, Eastport ME 04631
