Shirley (Harmon) Vane , 88, passed away Feb.6,2015 at Marshall Healthcare Facility in Machias. She was born in East Machias August 17, 1926 ,one of nine children, of the late Earl and Leo (Scott) Harmon.
She attended Washington Academy and proudly received her GED from Machias Adult Ed. She worked for many years at Marshall's Boarding Home as a C.N.A. And Med Aide . After her retirement she worked for Whitney Wreaths ,where she loved being with many special friends.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Oscar Vane in 2006 ; a son Michael in May of 1992, and a grandson Joel in 2002 ; a sister Evelyn Huntley of Lubec, and five brothers- Clarence , Herbert , Edwin , Victor , and Earl “Bud” Harmon, all of East Machias.
She is survived by a son Robert and partner Sandy of Winterport ; a daughter Linda Libby and husband Wendall of Whiting ; two special sisters Vivian Kilton of East Machias and Clara Campbell of Lubec ; grandchildren Mike of Whiting , Steve of East Machias , Michael of Saco , Jason of Machias , and Jessica and Robert of Winterport ; 11 great-grandchildren ; and several nieces , nephews, and cousins who were very special to her .
A graveside service to be held at Longfellow Cemetery in Machias will be announced in the spring by McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias.
