Lottiemae Margaret (Durrett) Mattes , 82, passed away May 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 11, 1935 in New Orleans, LA the daughter of the late Capt. Alfred William, Durrett Sr. and Dolores Mae (Schock) Mattes.
She was a lifelong Devout Catholic. She was a homemaker and devoted mother , grandmother , great-grandmother , and friend. As a teenager she moved to Galveston, TX where she stayed for over 40 years. Her last 19 years were spent living with her daughter Pamela Durrett and family . She worked at Catholic daycare, was a lector, choir member , and hard working volunteer .
She is survived by her children – Daniel Pius Mattes , Dale Mattes , and Pamela L. Durrett ; a brother Alfred W. “Skipper” Durrett Jr ; grandchildren – Roberto C. Durrett , Jasmine Durrett, Daniela, Dolores , and Estephania Mattes, and Mae Mattes ; great- grandchildren Abril and Luis Mattes ; chosen sisters – Sissy Oliver and Bette Durrett and chosen daughter Wendy Durrett and son AJ Lacy ; nieces Maya Durrett and Shawn Carr and nephew Ishi Durrett and many cousins and family members in Louisiana; and best friend Tommie Mallini.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Sylvester Mattes ; a son Donald Mattes ; a brother Richard “Dickie” Durrett , and a nephew Alfred W. Durrett III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Saturday May 12, 2018 at the Holy Name Catholic Church, Machias . Burial to follow at 1pm at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.
