Harold “Sonny” Tenney , 57 , passed away unexpectedly December 11, 2017. He was a free spirited man who lived life to the fullest , on his terms, and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was extremely patriotic, and loved his country. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 6 years, where he became an Airborne Ranger, Green Beret, and a jungle expert. He met his now ex wife Hildegard during his time stationed in Germany. They fell in love and became married before returning to the States, where they brought two daughters into the world. Sonny had a love for the ocean. He worked as a lobsterman, with his daughter Priscilla as his sternman. He was an urchin diver , marine worm digger, a carpenter, and a jack of all trades. He also had 7 grandchildren whom he loved so very much, and were the apple of his eye. Sonny was a warm man with a huge heart, and a loving charm. He had a smile that you could never forget.
He is survived by two daughters. His oldest Priscilla Tenney-Rawlinson with whom he shared a very close bond, and never went a day without talking to, her husband Scott Rawlinson, and their children – Skyy , Angela, Bryce , and Tyler all of which he helped bring into the world, and loved with all his heart. His youngest daughter Melanie Bailey who he loved with all his heart, and was so proud of the woman she became. Her husband Jamie Bailey, and their children Braydon , Alex and Carter “Sauce”. He took such pride in being there PAPA and held them very close to his heart. Sonny's life revolved around his daughters, and grandchildren. They were his heart, his everything. He is also survived by four brothers- Maurice Tenney , whom he remained close to and loved so very much; Michael Tenney, Robert Tenney , and a half brother Leroy Tenney ; two sisters- Renee Robinson and Cynthia Winslow; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
He was predeceased by a brother Tom Tenney ; his mother Priscilla (Faulkner) Tenney , and his father Lee Tenney. Also two very special pets Lightfoot, and Nanook of the North.
Services were held 1pm Friday Decemebr 15, 2017 with full military honors at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his daughters to help assist with his final expenses.
