Machias, Maine

Pauline P. Davis, 88 of Machias and formally of Bethel, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Downeast Community Hospital. She was born March 13, 1928 in Roxbury, Maine, the daughter of Marshus A. Philbrick and Marion Wilson Kimball.
She went to school in Bethel, graduated from Gould Academy in 1945, and attended Westbrook Junior College. She Married Robert L. Davis on December 1, 1947, and together they raised four children. She worked at Gould Academy as secretary to the Headmaster from 1959-1990. Later on, she worked as a proofreader at the Bethel Citizen before permanently retiring on May 29, 2013 at the age of 85. She was a second mother to many who attended Gould Academy. Her door was always open, however you followed her rules and was treated like her own. She was also “Maine” mother to a group of Eagle Scouts who came from Boston area to experience country living, and have kept in touch throughout the years.
She is survived by her children – Wayne and wife Mary of Green River , WY , Keith of Bethel, ME , Rebecca and husband Bradford Warren of Cathance Twp, Me ; a sister Rebecca P. Kendall; a daughter-in-law Margo Davis of Bethel, ME ; 8 grandchildren , 14 great grandchildren ; and a very special cat Crissy.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Robert L. Davis, and a son Craig A. Davis.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Machias Veterans Home, where she made her home since Feb. 2015.
