Lorraine Rita (Fernald ) Carter , 87, passed away peacefully February 28, 2017 at a Machias hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lubec February 26, 1930 the daughter of the late John and Deliah (Metcalf) Fernald.
Her favorite pass times were doing crossword puzzles and playing cards, especially Skip-BO with all her family members, and dear friends.
She is survived by two sons – John Farmer and wife Belinda of Harpswell, and Kevin Farmer and wife Kim of Campobello Island , NB ; three daughters – Patricia Maker, Brenda Kelley and husband Alan , and Susan Davis and husband Bruce , and a sister Jane Chute ,all of Lubec ; 13 grandchildren ; 24 great grandchildren ; and 2 great -great grandchildren “on the way”, that she was very excited about ; and numerous nieces , nephews and friends , to include special friends -John and Sharon McGonigal , Wanda Matthews , Stacey Simonson , and Mary Hudson.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Vaughn Carter ; grandson Alan E. Kelly ; granddaughter Jennie S. Kelley ;great grandson Nicholas Farmer ; brother Ernest , and two sisters Sheila, and Marie.
