Obituary for Gertrude "Trudy" Newman

Gertrude "Trudy" Newman
Gertrude “Trudy” Newman
Lubec and Milbridge
January 25, 2017 Gertrude “Trudy” Newman, age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep and went to be with the Lord. She was born January 12, 1924 in Charlotte, Vermont to Gilbert and Mary Holcomb and is preceded in death by her husband John L. Newman, daughter Trudy “Marsha” Miller and grandsons Everett Lloyd “Benji” Smith, Jr. and Wesley James Keeton. She is survived by daughters Judith Alley of Lubec, Maine, Cheryl Look of Milbridge, Maine and Jonnye Thibodeau, of Spanish Fort, Alabama.  Trudy has been an inspiration to not only her family, including 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous friends throughout the years, but to countless others she has so lovingly sacrificed for all her life. Much of Trudy’s strength and inspiration has always come from the Lord which she was quick to profess. Recently a local minister commented on her continually upbeat, inspirational attitude she has always had, and when he spoke of Heaven, he commented she would smile and say “exciting” with her look toward the future. Trudy was always kind to everyone she met and an exceptional person who will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held to commemorate her life at the Temple Church in Lubec, Maine on February 4 at 11 am. The commemoration will also honor her daughter Trudy, “Marsha” Miller who passed away unexpectedly January 16, 2017.
