Almena B. Lenfestey Faulkingham Alley, 85, began her heavenly life with the Lord on August 31, 2016. She passed quietly into rest with the support of her loved ones and friends at Sunrise Healthcare Facility. She is now rejoicing in the realms of glory with her Lord, Jesus Christ.  She was born June 10, 1931, daughter of Ewart G. and Mineola B. Lenfestey.  Almena spent her life on Beals Island, where she was born and where she raised her family.  She graduated in 1948 from Beals High School with a class of seven dear friends, who meant the world to her.  Almena married her husband John Lester Faulkingham on November 14, 1949. After 16 years of marriage, she lost her husband to a drowning accident on April 26, 1965. Lester, as he preferred to be called, was a fisherman and he shared Almena’s love of their home on Beals with their two daughters.  After her husband’s death, she worked seasonal jobs to provide for her girls until the IGA opened in Jonesport in 1969 where she faithfully worked for 42 years as a clerk then as the store’s bookkeeper in the Crow’s Nest. Almena lived her life for her God and her family. She was a member who attended faithfully the Church of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. When the church doors were open, she was there. At age 84, she still sang in the choir and they waited patiently for her to come to the choir loft.  She served her community by cooking for families whenever a need presented itself. She earned the title “Mama Donut” as her homemade donuts were a coveted item.  Her interest in local sports was high and she enjoyed attending Royals’ games where she cheered loudly for her teams. She attended the Bangor Tournaments until she could no longer travel.  She trekked to Boston with her family to watch the Red Sox play ball. Whenever a game was on tv, she would listen in and often do as Sox fans do, complain and love every minute of it. Almena was an avid genealogist, who kept a “small black book” where she would record local families and their descendants. She spent many hours visiting and talking with people about their ancestors. She was a founding member of the Beals Historical Society and served as treasurer for many years. She was predeceased by her parents Ewart and Mineola Lenfestey, husband Lester Faulkingham, brother Chester Lenfestey, sister Lillian Huntley and husband James (Jimmy) Huntley, and sister Lavonne Smith and husband Halburton (Bertie), father-in-law Richard Faulkingham and mother-in-law Della Faulkingham, brother-in-law Herbert Faulkingham, and brother-in-law Joseph Alley. She is survived by her daughter Paula Lord-Wilson and husband Gary Wilson of Addison; daughter Carol Davis and husband George of Addison; grandson Jason Lord of Addison; granddaughter Saundra Moser and husband Eugene of Hooksett, NH; granddaughter Laura Brady and husband Christopher of Amesbury, Mass.; granddaughter Renee Gray and husband Michael of Addison; great-grandsons Dustan and Devon Moser, Isaiah and Isaac Lord; and great-granddaughter Melody Gray; brother Verlan Lenfestey; sister Adele Alley; sister Joyce Alley and husband Ralph; brother Wilfred Lenfestey and wife Olive; sister-in-law Eva Faulkingham and sister-in-law Margaret Lenfestey.  She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews as “Mimi” and missed by a nation of cousins. The family wishes to give special place to Archie Alley Jr. who for 25+ years has been a loyal companion to Mama.  Over the many years, they have been the family parents. Through thick and thin, they have stood by each other.  The family recognizes Archie as a faithful presence in their lives. Family and friends may call on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God ,located on the corner of West Jonesport, Maine  where funeral services will be held at 11 am Sunday the 4th officiated by Elders Gary Wilson, Dale Smith, and Michael Beal.  Internment will follow the funeral at the Sewell Field Cemetery on Beals.
