Edith Mae Gardner , 84, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2016 in Machias surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was born in Lubec April 4, 1932 the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Mahlman ) Garnett . She was a graduate of Lubec High School , and Bryant and Stratton College in New York . She worked for 19 years as a secretary in the Lubec Superintendents office . She attended the Ridge Baptist Church , enjoyed knitting , and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters- Susan Aldrich of Lubec , and Mary Hopkins and her husband Shawn of Bath ; 6 grandchildren -Trevor , Tracy , Mac , David , Christina , and Caitlyn ; 7 great-grandchildren , and 5 great-great-grandchildren ; two special nephews Garnett Chute and Craig Chute.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Harold Gardner in 1983 and a daughter Terry (Gardner) Greene in 2009.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 pm until time of Memorial services at 2pm on Friday May 6, 2016 at the Ridge Baptist Church, Lubec. A reception will follow, and burial will follow in the Olson Cemetery . Condolences and memories may be shared at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com
