Dorothy “Dottie” Marie (McCray) Lyons , 76 , died after a long illness February 13, 2016 at Marshall Healthcare Facility in Machias . She was born Nov. 21 , 1939 in St. Stephen NB , Canada the daughter of the late Percy and Rosamond Newman. Dorothy married her loving husband Lauris on Sept. 21, 1956 and moved to Lubec where she worked by his side tending the farm , gardens , cutting wood , buying & digging clams , wrinkling, blueberry raking , making wreaths , baking pies that were sold at Ivy's Restaurant , and raising 9 children . In later years Dorothy waitressed at Murphy's Village Restaurant. She attended the West Lubec Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Lauris N. Lyons in 1995 ; and a brother Arnold McCray . She is survived by her children Debra Calder and companion Eddie Fletcher of Lubec ; Rosamond Lyons and companion Karen Jurek of MA ; James Lyons and wife Donna of Lubec ; Scott Lyons and wife Angel of Lubec ; April Fuller of Lubec ; Todd Lyons of Lubec ; Kimberly Lyons and companion Bernie Farmer of Lubec ; Troy Lyons and wife Amanda of Lubec ; and Mary Huntley and husband Timothy of Lubec ; 17 grandchildren – Cindy , Eric , Thomas , Timo . Brittany, Christopher , Chastity , Dorothy , Gary , Jesse , Robin , Jeremy , Mackenzie , Nicholas , Stephanie , Vanessa , and Rebecca ; 19 great-grandchildren – Brandon , Jacob , Abigail , Addasyn , Acheron , Hayden , Sophia , Shelby , John , Brianna , Benjamin , James , Kristin, Peyton , Kendall , Josie , Adalynn , Matthew , and Jace ; A brother-in-law John Lyons ; a sister-in-law Jeanne Wescott ; nephews Keith and Michael McCray ; a special friend Jack Fuller ; and many other relatives and friends.
Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 pm Wednesday February 17, 2016 at the West Lubec Methodist Church , where funeral services will he held the following day at 1pm ,followed by a reception at the church. Burial will held in the spring at Split Hill Cemetery, West Lubec. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services Machias and Lubec.
