Ronald Stephen Pitts, 67 , born May 26, 1948 recently of Lubec and Campobello Island , NB left this earthly plain Jan. 16, 2016 to join our Heavenly Father .
Ron had a full and wonderful life . He was the youngest head State Park Ranger in the history of Oregon . It was an amazing job he loved and hated to leave, but leave he did for the sake of his family . He moved with his family to St. Johnsbury, VT where he met Russ Welock, who was a true inspiration on his life . Russ tutored Ron on gold and silver mining stocks and the true ways of the world . Ron went forward to become an expert on these matters and was consumed with knowing everything about gold and silver that he could right up until the day he joined our Lord.
Ron's most memorable and satisfying job was as track coach at the St. Johnsbury Academy in VT. He was the head coach for the boys pole vaulting team. His record of wins is unsurpassed to this day .
Ron is survived by his loving wife Wendy Dunn of Houlton, ME ; his loving younger brother Phil Pitts and his wife Karen of Arizona ; his oldest daughter Gretchen “Gretchie “ Calhoun her husband Jeff of Kentucky and their daughters Rachel and Rebekah ; youngest daughter Sara Wescott and her husband Hugh of St. Johnsbury, VT and their daughters Holly and Hannah, who are following in his foot steps , and making him proud by pole vaulting ; his favorite Uncle Smitty (who is 91) and his wife Bunny of Hawaii ; his best friend who has been there for him his whole life from grade school on , Bill Hosely of Oregon ; Jennifer and Merrill Brinton of Wilson's Beach (Campobello Island ) N.B. Who were wonderful friends and beside him until the end ; and all his numerous friends who are too many to list .
