Obituary for Byron F. Boomer

Byron “Bud” Boomer passed away on Friday December 4th in Machias following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lubec on November 7, 1939 son of William and Marguerite Boomer and attended Lubec and University of Maine schools.

During his career, he held several leadership positions throughout New York and New England in the poultry feeding industry including Cohen Egg Farms in Saco and Decoster Egg Farms in Turner.

He retired back to his hometown of Lubec in 1999 and enjoyed spending his days exploring the great outdoors of Maine.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman taking several trips to the Allagash with his friends Edward Hodgdon, Jimmy Simmonds and Bucky Rogers.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia of 25 years of Lubec, three children, Caren Polk of East Lebanon, Bill Boomer of Biddeford, Jeff Boomer of  Newmarket, NH and three step children, Laurie Cluff of Kennebunk, Peter Philbrick, Jr of Alfred and Dennis Philbrick of Waterboro as well as five grandchildren, Ashton Polk and Lucas Colarossi of East Lebanon, Chris and Dylan Cluff of Kennebunk and Nina Philbrick of Lyman.  He was predeceased by his brother John Boomer.

No services will be held.  Burial will be in the spring in southern Maine.
