Michael Melbourne Gallant

Lubec Mel Gallant, 46, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lubec on October 23, 2015.

Mel was predeceased by his grandparents: Melbourne & Margaret Calder, Edmund & Lucille
Gallant, cousin Doreen McCurdy.

Mel graduated from Lubec High School in 1986 and spent his life doing exactly what he loved
fishing. Mel’s number one priority was his children. Family always came first and had a special
place in Mel’s “larger than life heart.” Mel was always willing to lend a helping hand. In 1997,
he was recognized for his efforts in saving the lives of other fishermen. When one encountered
Mel, he made sure you walked away with a smile or maybe a flower.

Mel is survived by his parents: Marianne Gallant of Lubec and Michael & Sherry Gallant of Bar
Harbor; his son, Noah Melbourne and daughters, Jenna Starr and Reegan Brown and the
mother of their children, Jenny Gallant; a grandson Aaden Ferguson; his sisters, Mindy Kane and her husband Dan, and Marcie Bivins and her husband Beau; nephews: Aaron, Brantley, Brayden, Hayden and
Benjamin; nieces: Alex, Allie, Zoey and Nora. Special family members Odessa & Jennifer.
Mel had a special aunt, whom he referred to as a second mother, Gloria Calder and Uncle
David McCurdy; cousins Leah & Isaiah, David & Trisha McCurdy, Jodie & Trevor Greene,
Brendan & Megan. Special friends Jessica Seeley and her three children.

Mel touched the lives of many individuals and will hold a special place in their hearts.

Services will be held at 2:00p.m. on October 28 at the Lubec Boat Ramp with a Celebration of
