Obituary for Betty Jean Edwards (Lovejoy)

EAST MACHIAS – Betty Jean (Lovejoy) Edwards , 78, passed away peacefully at Oceanview Nursing Home in Lubec, on June 20, 2014.She was born March 22, 1936, in Addison, Maine, the daughter of the late Gertrude and Elmer Lovejoy, Sr. She married Charles Edwards on December 12, 1967 at Old Orchard Beach. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, baking, crossword puzzles and yard sales.
She worked in Plants Store of Machias and several other small family owned businesses until she had her own business in Machias. In the late 80s she ran a small business named Pinecone Magazines and Things on Main St. in Machias. In the early 90s she ran the Bucks Harbor “Shopping Mall”. She spent much time traveling around the U.S. with her husband who was in the Navy.
She is survived by her husband Charles of East Machias, Maine. A daughter, Jennifer of East Machias, a son, Scott of Brewer, son Jeffrey of Whitneyville, daughter Wendy Sawyer of Whitneyville and son Douglas Colbeth of Machias. She leaves behind six grand-children, Janessa, Jacob, Simon, Wyatt, Eric and Kristen. She is predeceased by her mother and father and sister Lorraine Coreau.
A memorial service will be held 1 pm Friday June 27, 2014 at Lifespring Chapel Church of God at 91 Main Street, East Machias, with Pastor Tom Neal officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lifespring Chapel Church of God, East Machias, Maine.
