Raymond W. Newman Jr,”Snook” 69, passed away on January 17, 2014 at a Machias hospital. He was born in Calais January 9, 1945 the son of the late Raymond W. Sr and Mary A. (Damon) Newman.
He attended school in Calais and served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the Army he relocated to Lubec and was a self employed auto mechanic and auto body repairman. He became a highly skilled carpenter whose services were in high demand . He enjoyed the companionship of his four dogs; Hanna, Montana, DJ , and Buffy. He also enjoyed summertime cookouts with his many friends.
He is survived by his sons- Aaron Newman of W. Lafayette, IN, and Lubec Beshansky of Nolanville ,TX ; a grandson Devon Newman of Lubec ; a sister Diane Champion of Spring Hills, FL ; a brother Wayne Newman and wife Carole of Brewer ; nephews Richard Davis of VA , and Michael Davis of FL ; nieces Terry Blake of Eddington, and Lorri Newman of Hampden ; several great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by special friends Billy Blake , Daryl McCurdy, and George Olson of Lubec and Anna Marie Black Hedekin of FL.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Andrea and daughter Heather, and by his second wife Shirley.
A celebration of his life will be held 1 pm Sunday January26th at the Lubec American Legion. A private graveside service will be held at a later. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com
