Lubec

Joseph C. O’Brien , 54, passed away Dec. 26, 2013 after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Lubec June 23, 1959 to the late Julian and Helen O’Brien.
Joe joined the Lubec Fire Department as a junior firefighter at the age of eleven, and remained active in the department until his death. He was also a member of both the Lubec Police and Lubec Ambulance Service where he was an E.M.T. For the past twenty nine years he had been the manager of the Lubec Water District. His true passion has always been spending time with his family, with whom he just celebrated a wonderful Christmas.
He leaves behind his wife of thirty one years Julie O’Brien ; two sons David O’Brien and girlfriend T.J. Harris, and James O’Brien and girlfriend Corinne Mathews, and Joe’s beloved grandson Jaden. As well as the daughter of his heart Naomi Brown, her husband Michael and their children -Aidyn, Makenna, and Rylee . He is also survived by three sisters – Susan Melochick and husband David, Julie Bradley and husband Ricky , and Kathryn Tinker and husband Blair ; a brother Herbert O’Brien and wife Paula ; a special brother-in-law he thought of a son Dereck Archer ; many nieces, nephews, and special friends . He will be greatly missed by many.
Visiting hours will begin 11 am Saturday Dec. 28th at the Lubec Christian Temple Church Main St. Lubec, where Funeral Services will be held at 1pm. Burial will immediately follow in the Greenfield Cemetery, Lubec. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services Machias and Lubec.
