Obituary for Alice Louise Edgecomb

Alice Louise Edgecomb
Alice Edgecomb

Machias

Our dearest friend Alice Edgecomb, 90, lived a long and happy life, and went to be with her Lord and Savior August 28, 2013 with her friend and caregiver Lucille at her side. She was born at Sebago,ME June 11, 1923 the daughter of the late John and Ruth Edgecomb. She was a graduate of Standish High School class of 1941. She worked and retired early at the New England Bell Telephone Company. She was an active person, willing to go anywhere as long as she was in good company. Some of the things she liked to do were playing cards, visiting friends, camping, being with her church family, going to religious concerts , Bingo , sewing (especially her raggedy Ann and Andy’s), eating out, and collecting dolls. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Machiasport, and was very active in the University of Maine Extension Homemakers. She served as treasurer for many years and thoroughly enjoyed attending local and state extension meetings.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two brothers- Raymond and John ; a sister Edith; and a good friend Jerry. She is survived by her “adoptive” daughter Lucille Parker, as she will be greatly missed by Lucille’s family whom she considered her grandchildren, as they called her “Grammie Alice”, as well as many nieces and nephews, a good friend Vickie Roberts, and all of her church family.
A special thanks to Deb and Bill Eckart and her other neighbors who helped in her times of need. Also to Barbara Barnett and the hospice volunteers. Her celebration of life will be held 3 pm Saturday Sept. 21st at McClure Funeral Home (corner of Charles and Drisko St. Machias) right across from Alice’s home with Rev. Dr. Francois Akoa Mongo officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the First Congregational Church of Machiasport for their Steeple Fund, PO Box 356 Machiasport,ME 04655.
