Obituary for Robert L. "Bob" Kerr Sr.

Robert L. "Bob"  Kerr Sr.
Robert L. Kerr Sr. of Jonesport, ME and New Haven, CT, died after a brief illness on June 28, 2013. He was born in New Haven to Edgar T. Kerr and Florence M. (Donovan) Kerr on October 20, 1934. Bob joined the navy in 1952 and served during the Korean War through 1955. He then worked in passenger service for the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad until 1963. Most of his career was spent as a truck driver working for Teamsters Local 443 out of the New Haven area. He enjoyed salt-water fishing, working on his boat, cooking, gardening, and being able to get a rise out of someone! After retiring he enjoyed bar tending in clubs in Milford and New Haven. Shortly after coming to Jonesport, ME in 1993, Bob established Mahogany Seafood Inc. with his daughter Kristine and her husband John Esposito Jr. Most recently he enjoyed spending time with his dogs and enjoying coffee and friends in his garage. 

Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Zelda K. (McDonough) Kerr and their children; Kristine M. (Kerr) Esposito and her husband, John Esposito Jr. of Milbridge, ME and their children Anthony R. Acampora, his partner Heather Merchant and their children Elijah J. Murphy and Aiden A. Acampora, Krysondra R., Bryhanah E., and Jonella L. Esposito, and son, Robert L. Kerr Jr., his partner Tania Berlucchi and their son Isaiah R. Kerr of Bangor, ME, and granddaughters Vanessa C. DiVerniero and her son Jayce R. DiVerniero, Nicole C. (Kerr) Oliver, and twins Alexandra L. Locke and Alissa M. Kerr. 

 He was predeceased  by his parents and his siblings Charlotte M. Kerr, Gertrude (Kerr) Kelly, and Edgar T. Kerr Jr. and a much missed daughter Deborah S. Kerr. Services will be held at Community of Christ Church on Main Street in Jonesport on Wednesday, July 3rd. Visiting hours will begin at 1 PM and a celebration of Bob's life begins at  2:30. Internment will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ark Animal Shelter in Cherryfield, Paralyzed Veterans of America, or a charity of your choice.
